A FEW EXAMPLES TO GET YOU THINKING ABOUT WHAT STYLE WILL WORK BEST FOR YOUR SCHOOL OR BUSINESS
Example of an 11 inch by 8 1/2 inch certificate.     The very first certificate that comes to mind may be a simple one done on a pre-printed blank. These are often used for awards and recognition. This size is commonly available as a blank, and most are usually seen with ornate engraving-style borders. You can also use a quality plain paper sheet.
These can be printed for you so you can add the name yourself, if you have a compatible program, and print it on your laser or inkjet printer.
You can provide a unique certificate the graduate or employee will be proud to frame and display without spending any more than a simple and plain stock certificate.

Example of an 8 1/2 inch by 11 inch certificate.     This example is simply the "portrait" layout version of the above "landscape" layout of the same size certificate. All the same possibilities of design for printing and in-house finishing are available for this layout as well.
You can also consider the option of having the entire certificate designed and printed without using the pre-printed bordered certificates.
This is also an opportunity to consider the addition of color to your design if you are going to have the certificates pre-printed for in-house finishing on your printer. This allows you to add some color without the need for a quality inkjet printer. And saving the time spent on slower inkjet printers when numerous certificates are needed.

Example of an 14 inch by 11 inch certificate.     This is the next step up in standard sizes. The size change is visually significant while the cost is virtually identical for design services and for printing.
By moving up to a larger format you have the opportunity to use a wider selection of finer papers with shades, tones, and textures not available in a stock certificate.
The selection of a good paper and a better printing method will express your appreciation for an employees work, or convey congratulations to your graduates, and will be hung with pride. It reflects on the school or company as an example of the way they care for those that pass through their doors.
If you have a lazer or inkjet printer capable of handling 11 inch by 17 inch tabloid paper, you can finish these in house.

Example of an 11 inch by 14 inch certificate.     This is the final example of my very short introduction to the wide variety of possibilities available to satisfy your individual meed.
Where do your current diplomas end up? In a drawer somewhere? A well-designed certificate represents the most cost effective investment you can make for school diplomas. A visually attractive certificate will be hung on the wall for all to see - for years to come. Nothing comes close to an advertisement that people will actually want to approach and examine - and leaves a positive impression about the school that makes that kind of effort for its' students.
Employees you choose to honor for their outstanding work for the company will appreciate a certificate that reflects your recognition of their efforts. The good will generated by your investment pays for itself many times over.
A certificate can be a small piece of art, a joy to look at, and a reflection of appreciation & accomplishment.

You will not see a real variation in the size of certificates as represented here. This is simply a chance to see four of the basic variations of sizes you might work with.
