GRIDZ is a package of layout aids developed by a calligrapher and lettering artist with more than 40 years interest in hand-drawn and hand-written letters. Originally developed for my personal use, they were later released in printed form.
Now updated with twice the layout options, they are being re-released. You can now print them on the paper you like to use for your design work and practice. Now includes six projects for use and practice. The goal is to allow for a much broader range of projects without the normal time spent in preliminary layout of projects. If some spacing change was desired all that layout time was simply lost as the entire layout must be done again. If a particular style of heading was chosen for a certificate or an award special tools might also be needed - and even more time spent on layout. The layout would need to be done over if there was some variation desired. Using layout grids allows you to experiment with layouts, to freely change layouts, to incorporate a variety of styles into a single project. And to do so with much less time spent on the work before the work tedium. Without the tedium associated with layout and changing layouts you are free to broaden the range of lettering styles you want to learn, and to let your imagination feed your creativity. All the grids included here are presented in Portable Document Format ( pdf ) for ease of printing on a wide range of printers using either a PC or a Mac. Using PDFs allows you to magnify each page of the introduction for easier reading on your monitor. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print these pages. It is a free program you may already have. If you do not have it - I have included it on this disc for you. Watch for how-tos, new examples, projects, and maybe even some special grids for you to print - right here on the website. www.calligraphya2z.com |
